SMS BINS – Terms, Conditions & Extra Charges

📦 Customer Responsibilities

The customer agrees to exercise due care when loading the skip bin. All bins are delivered in clean, working condition without visible damage. The customer is liable for any damage caused to the skip bin during the hire period, including but not limited to:

  • Cracked or broken tail lights
  • Damaged or broken bin lids
  • Waste requiring excessive cleaning or removal of material stuck inside bin

🚚 Bin Placement & Movement

  • Skip bins will be placed in a reasonably accessible location as requested by the customer and agreed by SMS Bins
  • Once positioned, bins will be secured with wheel chocks and locks and must not be moved by the hirer.
  • Requests to relocate the bin during the hire period may incur an additional fee.
  • If the bin is filled and requires emptying during the hire period, additional charges will apply.

⚖️ Weight Allowance & Excess Charges

  • Hire includes up to 500kg of waste.
  • Excess weight will be charged at $25 per 100kg, calculated in 100kg increments or part thereof.
  • Evidence of excess weight will be provided and invoiced after disposal.

🚫 Prohibited Items

The following items must not be placed in skip bins under any circumstances:

  • Flammable materials
  • Toxic substances
  • Asbestos
  • Paint
  • Food waste
  • Chemicals

 

🧾 Special Items (Place Beside Bin – Additional Charges Apply)

These items must be declared at the time of booking and placed beside the bin. Charges apply and weight will count toward the included allowance of 500kg:

Included Free Area – Greater Hobart Region up to:

  • North: Brighton
  • South: Blackmans Bay
  • West: Ferntree / Collinsvale
  • East: Sorell, Forcett, Dodges Ferry, Cremorne

Out of Area 1 – $30 Charge Up to:

  • North: Bagdad
  • South: Snug
  • West: Grove, New Norfolk
  • East: Richmond, Copping, Primrose Sands

Out of Area 2 – From $50:

  • By negotiation depending on location within Southern Tasmania

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of scheduled delivery may incur a $50 cancellation fee.
  • No charge applies for cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance.
  • If SMS Bins reschedule or cancel the deliveryfor any reason, you will receive a full refund or rebooking option.

⚠️ Liability Disclaimer

SMS BINS is not liable for any damage to property, driveways, or landscaping resulting from bin placement or removal. Customers are responsible for ensuring adequate access and clearance. 

The customer and or agents of the customer agrees to indemnify Southern Mobile Skips trading as SMS Bins against any claims for personal injury or losses arising from the use of the mobile skip bin equipment.

SMS Bins are not liable for delays or inability to perform due to circumstances beyond their control, including extreme weather,mechanical failure or accidents.
